Located in the small town of Marmora, the construction of this four storey apartment building and retail unit is now completed. Commissioned in 2016, this new residential building features 10 apartments designed to be senior friendly and handicap adaptable with a communal space that includes a quiet private garden and a party room easily accessible for its occupants.
The historic location of this residence, on the main street of the village Marmora, motivated the city to be particularly strict of the overall exterior style of the building. Their main criterion was clear; this new structure had to integrate easily to its surroundings, making all citizens feel at home while preserving the village’s heritage. n Architecture Inc. acknowledged the importance of heritage and conservation and therefore, carefully designed this residence to be in harmony with its neighboring buildings. For instance, the use of the mansard roof, which is easily found in nearby communities, is concurrently a unique feature in the village of Marmora, while also integrating the building with the historical style of the surrounding architecture. Furthermore, the combination of red brick and siding on the building façade efficiently celebrates/reminisces the heritage of Marmora. Undeniably, these features complied well to the heritage and conservation requirements and the final design was well accepted by the city and its residents.
