n Architecture Inc. was commissioned to work on this project in 2014. Amalgamating the exterior design philosophies of two iconic brands – McDonald’s and Petro Canada was an interesting design exercise, however in the end a lot of common ground was found which resulted in this final design.
The McDonald’s branding was presented in grey and trademark red, while the Petro Canada trade mark signage was emphasized with a contrasting white background that pops it out to the eye of the viewer. The geometrical composition of the structure reflects the functionality as the transition between the convenience store and the McDonald’s restaurant.
The volume’s cladding merges this sense through the integration of Hardie Boards and glass. The diversity in the colour palette used in the facade shows both McDonald’s and Petro Canada’s graphical identity while keeping up with their design standards. n Architecture Inc. worked on the design of this project to reach a harmonious design satisfying both companies desired styles.
This location has been operational since November 2016; these recently photographed images show the building in situ with mature landscaping as intended.
